The best thing I loved about the Windows operating system is
the start menu, and after seeing the Windows 8 which misses the start button I
was little bit disappointed and I am not very sure about Whether removing the
start button is very good choice or not. Windows 8 is primarily developed for
the Smartphone users, but Microsoft has left few options to customize the operating
system for the desktop users and can make changes according to our needs.
We have found a smart way to bring back our beloved start
menu in Windows 8, so let’s check it out.
Step 1: In
Windows 8 the start button space is already occupied by the pinned
applications, so first thing we need to do is to make some space on the left
side of the taskbar for start button. Start with creating a folder on the
desktop and rename it to your choice.
Step 2: Now,
right click on taskbar and click on Toolbars and then New Toolbars. Look for
the folder you created in the Step 1 and now select the very same folder and
add this folder to your taskbar.
Step 3: Click one
more time on the taskbar and click "Lock the taskbar" option in popped
up menu. Now select the folder and drag it on the leftmost side of the taskbar,
so it holds the first position on the screen on the left side and followed by
the pinup apps.
Step 4: Now Right
click on the folder text deselect "Show Text and Show Title" to
remove the folder text.
Step 5: Now after
completing the followings steps, Download and install
vi-start(http://lee-soft.com/vistart/) on your local machine to get back to
your start button.
Note: The
Vi-Start comes with Adware (basically advertisement program), remove them
according to your need when you install the program.
Conclusion: The
Vi-Start will install the start button but its not as smooth as its in
WindowsXP or Windows 7. You can also find the Metro Menu, try it too. May be
you will fall in love with the new features of Windows 8.
